Anthony Joshua might be fighting for something more meaningful than a title when he faces Kristian Prenga.
He figures to be accompanied by the memory of two friends who were killed in a car crash Joshua survived on Dec. 29 in Nigeria.
Joshua recently spoke to talkSPORT about the two friends he lost.
"The guys were always part of my life,’’ Joshua said. “I always live for them anyway. They are part of my DNA.
"I'm a loyal soldier; these guys are part of my army. I always live for my friends and family regardless.’’
How it might affect Joshua in the boxing ring will be clearer Saturday, when he will be fighting for only the second time since his fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024.
In his last fight, 10 days before the fatal car crash, Joshua battered Jake Paul and broke his jaw with a sixth-round knockout punch.

Round 1: Hamzah Sheeraz holds his gloves up high and almost accentuates his high advantage over Simon Zachenhuber. Zachenhuber a tad more active than Sheeraz. Feels like Sheeraz has frittered away this round. But he did enough to win the round. Sheeraz 10, Zachenhuber 9.
Round 2: Sheeraz still fighting methodically. Zachenhuber looks wary and that's not going to give him a chance. The crowd is whistling with displeasure. Appropriately. Zachenhuber lets loose with a left that scores and then connects with a rght. Sheeraz 20, Zachenhuber 18.
Round 3: Sheeraz still fighting with some resetraint. He's poking as much as punching. They exchange body shots. Zachenhuber pops Sheeraz with a nice left and Sheeraz counters with a hard right. Sheeraz finally fires some crisp shots, culiminated with a body blow. Sheerez 30,, Zachenhuber 27.
Round 4: Sheeraz lands a nice counter right and now he's getting more assertive. Zachenhuber is going to need to take some risks to pull the upset and he doesn't look teh last bitg interested. Zachenhuber comes alive with a straight left to the chest. Sheeraz 40, Zachenhuber 36.
Round 5: Zachenhuber scores with a nice left and stays active as Sheeraz a little passive. But not for long. He unleashes a coupl of body shots. Zachenhuber throws a flurry and Sheeraz digs in with anther bodyh shot. Gutsy round by Zachenhuber. A little too much coasting by Sheeraz. Sheeraz 49, Zachenhuber 46.
Round 6:Sheeraz circling his prey. Zachenhuber side stepping trouble. But increasingly, he's looking cornered. But he keeps fighting out of trouble. Sheeraz 58, Zachenhuber 56.
Josh Kelly def. Caoimhin Agyarko by unanimous decision
Josh Kelly finished a bloody mess -- and victorious. Surviving a rugged, 12-round fight super welterweight fight, Kelly defeated Caoimhin Agyarko by unanimous decison and retained his IBF title.
The judges scored it 114-113, 115-112, 115-112 for Kelly, who was sucessful in his first title defense.
Kelly, a 32-year-old from Great Britain, improved to 19-1-1. Agyarko, a 29-year-old from Ireland, fell to 18-1.
Round 1:Agyarko unfurls a right but missed the mark after 220 seconds of staring at each other. Agyarko gets tangled up with Kelly and drops to the mat. Now they're pawing at each other. Impressive quickness, especially from Kelly. Agyarko whiffs with a big shot, Kelly lands a counter punch and grins. Kelly 10, Agyarko 9.
Round 2: More punches missing the mark than landing. But Kelly managing to land the jab. They're standing toe-to-toe but there's no sustained action. Agyarko connects with a couple of lefts. Kelly moving forward and now he's landing combinations. Kelly 20, Agyarko 18.
Round 3:Agyarko comes out aggressively and lands a couple of shots. Kelly fires the jab again and scores. That's his weapon of choice. Land more jabs and shakes his hands, a little showmanship. Agyarko dives forward for some more rough-and-tumble boxing. But Kelly thriving with more distance between them. Kelly 30, Agyarko 27.
Round 4: Kelly looks like he could win this fight exclusively with his jab. Agyarko charges in for more inside boxing and Kelly shows he's capable of more than the jab. He fires a combination. Kelly twirls his left hand. More showmanship. Then he lets his fists fly. Kelly 40, Agyarko 36.

It was a super featherweight bout, but there was nothing feathery about Reito Tsutsumi of Japan. He knocked down Alvino Herrera three times before the referee halted the fight 28 seconds into the second round.
It's worth noting that Herrera, a 30-year-old from Mexico, entered the fight with a record 18-0-2 and yet the 23-year-old Tsutsumi made Herrera look like a novice.
Tsutsumi improved to 5-0 with his fourth knockout and has the look of a potential future champion.
Round 1: Tsutsumi first out with jabs. Herrera responds with his left. Tsutsumi the aggressor. Eags a left but keeps pressing the action. Herrera landa body shot, but Tsutsumi charges forward behind a left and down goes Herrera! He's but staggering againi and he's facing a count from teh referee. He's in trouble and drags Tsutsumi to the mat. Turning this into a wresting match is probably Herrera's best hope. Tsutsumi 10, Herrera 7.
Round 2:Herrera is throwing hard and early but down he goes with another left. And it's over! The referee waves off the fight, and it's a TKO victory for Tsutsumi. He lookedscintillating.

Pawel August made his way to the ring wearing what looked like a black ski mask, one you might wear on a bank robbery, fittingly enough. The last name of his opponent: Bank. Jakob Bank.
But the ski-mask stunt was no help against Bank, who dominated the eight-round middleweight fight while landing 184 punches and 101 power punches, more than double of August's output.
All three judges scored it 80-72 for Bank, a 25-year-old from Denmark who impoved to 20-0. It was the first loss for August, a 31-year-old from Great Britain who suffered his first loss and fell to 18-1. And there was no disputing the outcome as August clapped for his opponent after the judges' scores were read.
Round 1: August initiates the acton with his jab. Bank finally fires back withhis own jab, and it looks crisp. August presses the action again. Bank lands a left and he's happy to fight off of his back foot -- and effectively. Bank is showing impressive precision. Bank 10, August 9.
Round 2: Bank comes out firing the jab and lands a right to the body. August remains the aggressor and marches into a few punches. Bank still allowing August to press and then counter. August lands a nice jab, but they're too infrequent. Bank lands a left and an uppercut, but August still is moving forward as his face swells. Bank 20, August 18.
Round 3: Bank is firing his jab with more power. August bulls forward but with no real payoff. Bank just a maestro with that left hand, but it hsan't stopped August in his tracks. Now Bank lands a right, and the combinations could spell real trouble for August. Bank winding up more to push back August, who miraculously continues to press foward. Bank 30, August 27.

Nishant Dev, the 25-year-old from India, was a whirling dervish in the super welterweight fight. Unloading a variety of punches, Dev knocked down Cesar Diaz three times -- and the final time he was down for good, with four seconds left in the round.
Dev softened up Diaz with body shots and then fired at Diaz's head.
Dev recorded his fifth knockout while improving to 7-0. Diaz, a 33-year-old from Peru, fell to 10-3.
Eddie Hearn, Dev's promoter, predicted Dev will become the first Indian boxing champion. "It'll change boxing forever,'' Hearn said during an in-ring interview after the fight..
Potentially, the fan base for Dev could be massive. India has an estimated populaton of 1.5 billion, more than four times bigger than the United States.
Round 1: Dev strikes first with a combination, but it's lightweight stuff. He continues to throw punches and digs in with a few body shots, Diaz fires back, Dev responds and down goes Diaz after absorbing a left to the body. Dev continues to attack Diaz's body. Dev connects with a left to the face and Diaz goes down again! He's on his feet, but not for long. Dev unloads a flurry of punches and Diaz is down for good! This fight, a tune-up for Joshua in preparation for his bout against Tyson Fury set for late this year, marks his return to the ring after the deadly car crash. And on paper, his fight against Prenga looks potentially competitive.
Prenga, a 35-year-old Albanian, is 20-1 with 20 knockouts. But he has yet to face a boxer of the caliber of Joshua, the 36-year-old from Great Britain who is a former two-time heavyweight champion.
But Prenga still figures to be a more serious test than Paul was. The fight also could serve as a barometer to determine how the car crash may have impacted Joshua, not to mention how sharp he looks after his last serious fight -- a brutal fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024.

Dubois knocked down Joshua four times and delivered the KO punch in the fifth round. But Paul, the You-Tuber-turned Paul, gave Joshua a chance to flex his muscles. Joshua knocked down Paul four times and broke Paul’s jaw with the KO punch in the sixth round.

Kristian Prenga, a 35-year-old Albanian, suffered his only loss in 2017. Incredibly, he lost on points to Giovanni Auriemma, who suffered defeats in four of his next six fights and now has a record of 2-6-2.
By contrast, Prenga rebounded from the loss by knocking out his next 16 opponents. All 20 of his victories have come by knockout.
