Maryland started its season off with a resounding 62-0 win over Hampton. Quarterback Malik Washington led off the way by completing 19 of 31 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown. Running back DeJuan Williams was dominant, carrying the ball three times for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding caught six passes for 57 yards and one touchdown in the win.
UConn, meanwhile, was likewise impressive in its campaign opener, defeating Lafayette 56-7. Toledo transfer quarterback Kalieb Osborne, a threat through the air and with his legs, was fantastic in his Husky debut, connecting on 19 of 26 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns to one interception, while rushing the ball eight times for 90 yards and two scores on the ground. Javon Brown caught six passes for 92 yards and one touchdown in the victory for UConn, setting us up for an exciting matchup between Maryland and UConn on Saturday.
