CALL FOR ART: ''RECONCILIATION'' - What does it mean to you?
A traveling community art exhibition
The Art Hives Network recognizes that we carry out our work on unceded indigenous territories across Canada. As our country commemorates the 150th anniversary of its Confederation, the Art Hives Network acknowledges the struggle of native peoples caused by colonization and believe that Settlers have a responsibility to understand this shared history and how we may be continuing and perpetuating colonialism in our personal and professional lives. Our hope is that storytelling, and art making and sharing will help ignite the necessary conversations to support our work together towards repair and reconciliation.
We invite inhabitants of this land from all origins to explore through artwork what reconciliation means to them.
The exhibition will originate in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) and then travel to different Art Hives located in indigenous and settler communities across the country:
- Montreal, QC / La Ruche d'Art St-Henri: August 13 to 26 (VERNISSAGE, Sunday August 13, 3-5pm)
- Belleville, ON / NEXTDOOR Community Art Studio: August 27 to September 10
- Oshawa, ON / The Livingroom Community Art Studio: September 11 to September 25
- Winnipeg, MB / WHEAT (Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Arts Institute): September 27 to October 8
- Vancouver, BC / CATA Conference and Another Space: October 10 to 25.
- Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation, NL / Kakatshu Utshishtun Art Hive: November 1-15
- Cree Nation of Eastmain, QC / Eastmain Art Hive, QC: November 19-Dec 2
- Montreal, QC / Montreal Museum of Fine Arts' Art Hive: February 16 to March 14, 2018 (FINISSAGE Wednesday March 14,m 6-8pm)

We invite all interested participants to consult the Calls to Action developed by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada to inspire your creative process, and encourage artwork to be created on lightweight supports (such as paper and un-mounted fabric), as it will be mailed. Artwork on heavier supports (or tri-dimensional) will be accepted locally but will not travel to the subsequent locations.

''RÉCONCILIATION'' Qu'est-ce que cela signifie pour vous?
Une exposition nomade d'art communautaire
Le Réseau des Ruches d'Art reconnait accomplir son travail sur des territoires autochtones non-cédés à travers le Canada. Alors que le pays commémore son 150e anniversaire, le Réseau des Ruches d'Art reconnait les luttes des peuples autochtones causées par la colonisation et croît que les descendant(e)s de colonisateurs ont une responsabilité de comprendre cette histoire partagée ainsi que de s'interroger sur les façons dont nous continuons et perpétuons possiblement le colonialisme dans nos vies personnelles et professionelles. Notre espoir est qu'en écoutant les histoires de chacun(e), et créant et en partageant de l'art, nous pourrons initier les conversations nécessaires pour soutenir notre travail partagé vers la réparation et la réconciliation.
Nous invitons les habitant(e)s de ce territoire à explorer à travers l'art ce que la réconciliation signifie pour eux/elles.
Le point d'origine de l'exposition sera Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) et celle-ci voyagera ensuite vers différentes Ruches d'Art située dans des communautés autochtones et de colonisateurs à travers le pays:

- Belleville, ON / NEXTDOOR Community Art Studio: 27 août au 10 septembre
- Oshawa, ON / The Livingroom Community Art Studio: 11 septembre au 25 septembre
- Winnipeg, MB / WHEAT (Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Arts Institute): 27 septembre au 8 octobre
- Vancouver, BC / Conférence de l'ACAT and Another Space: 11 au 25 octobre
- Première Nation Innue de Sheshatshiu, NL / Kakatshu Utshishtun Art Hive: 1 au 15 novembre
- Nation Crie d'Eastmain, QC / Eastmain Art Hive, QC: 19 novembre au 2 décembre
- Montréal, QC /Ruche d'Art du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal: 16 février au 14 mars 2018 (FINISSAGE mercredi le 14 mars, 18h-20h)
Nous invitons les participant(e)s intéressé(e)s à consultez les Appels à l'Action développés par la Commission Vérité et Réconciliation du Canada, afin d'inspirer votre processus créatif, et encourageons la création de vos oeuvres sur des supports légers (tel que sur papier, tissu ou toile non-montée, puisqu'elles seront envoyées par la poste. Les oeuvres sur des supports plus lourds ou tridimensionnelles seront acceptées localement mais ne voyageront pas jusqu'aux destinations subséquentes.
